A process analysis essay is basically a form of expository essay which describes the process or steps someone has to take in order to accomplish a task. You could think of it as a map, stating in simple terms all the necessary ingredients required to cook up a tasty dish. Just like the recipe, the process analysis essay must be organized in such a way that anyone following it can easily understand what’s cooking on the stove. Essay writing is no different. Any good essay consists of several steps and sub-topics. They are not all always the same in each case, but the sequence of events is generally ordered from most important to least important. This means that one needs an introduction, body and conclusion in order for the sequence to make sense. And, unlike cooking, an essay can only go in one of two directions, either forward or reverse, and it’s up to the writer to properly structure their work in order to maximize its usefulness to the reader. So, what types of topics can one find in a process analysis essay? One example would be the types of accidents, illnesses and diseases that affect humans. They may come from a scientific standpoint, such as from a research paper on the causes of autism or cancer, but they may also be an explanation of some sort for why some people seem to get sick more often than others or why some seem to live longer than others. The essay could analyze these and draw the readers’ attention to the specifics of each category of illness to help them in their own thinking processes. After all, everyone knows that certain diseases have a tendency to run in families, so an essay could analyze disease trends within a family and draw attention to these factors that could cause disease or the transmission of a disease. Another type of process analysis essay might examine the physical properties of objects. Here, an essayist might investigate whether or not a given object fits into a known category, such as whether an apple fits into a vegetable, or if an ice cube is a ball. It might analyze a set of physical laws, such as the law of conservation of energy, and use this information to demonstrate why not an apple is part of a vegetable, or why a particular vegetable is better suited to human consumption or why a particular ice cube is better suited for human consumption. The other type of process analysis essay examines a topic by using proper procedure. For instance, a logical order is used throughout the essay, rather than writing the conclusion and the introduction in consecutive order, which is usually found in a non-logical order. This shows the reader that logic will be used throughout the essay, and that the conclusion will be logical and coherently formed. This technique draws the reader’s attention to the logical order of the conclusion because it makes them look at the logical structure of the essay. A process analysis essay requires that you take precise, clear, concise notes throughout the process. Too many people leave out steps that do not make sense in their argument. You want to be able to review each step with the student at a later time, so don’t try to remember everything the first time you read through the essay. An essay requires several different steps in order to be an accurate representation of the actual process of scientific analysis. There are four steps involved in the actual process of scientific evaluation: observation, investigation, hypothesis and argument. There are several different types of process analysis essay, covering different areas of science. If you choose to specialize in a certain area of science, such as genetics or physics, there are specific steps required to analyze the subject matter. As with any other type of paper, the most important thing to remember about any process analysis essay is that you must develop your own ideas and use your critical thinking skills. The idea behind this process is that a student should develop a list of what he or she thinks might have happened, but is being tested for. The goal of the paper is to prove that there are not flaws in their idea, so it is important to formulate strong arguments for each point. You should write a very organized paper, making sure that you label each piece and place it in the appropriate category. By doing so, you will spend less time than if you had not followed proper procedure.
